Kids Crafts for a Chilly, Rainy Spring Break

These are some crafts/activities that can be made with things that can be found in the kitchen - perfect for a rainy day.

Finger Paint

1/4 cup cornstarch
2 cups cold water
Food coloring
Small jars or plastic containers

Mix cornstarch and water in a saucepan. Boil until mixture thickens. Cool and pour into containers and add food coloring. Mix well.

Recipe may be doubled.

Kool Aid Play Clay

This clay keeps well and doesn’t get crumbly like the commercial kinds.
1 1/4 c. flour
1/4 c. salt
1/2 T. alum or cream of tarter
1 pkg. Unsweetened Kool Aid
1 1/2 T. oil
1 c. boiling water

Mix dry ingredients. Add oil (you can use vegetable or mineral oil) and water. Let cool.

When cool enough to handle, knead the clay. Store in plastic zipper bags or containers.
